Together with our partners in the regions where we operate, we contribute to the development of secondary schools. In particular through grants we provide to active high school students for cultural and educational visits abroad. At the same time, we also focus on innovation in education.
Scholarships for secondary school students
At the Foundation, we believe that active people with an interest in their surroundings and an outlook are the foundation of any functioning community. Foreign experiences, learning about new cultures and customs, making new friends - all of these broaden horizons and teach new skills. That's why one of our flagship projects in high schools is scholarships for high school students to study abroad.
These scholarships are unique in that they support the student's development through an independent project proposal on sustainability and community improvement in the regions where they live.
The project is partnered by AFS Intercultural Programs and aims to offer students with an interest in their local area the opportunity to experience different cultural conditions, make new social connections, improve language skills, and further develop themselves. Supporting innovation in education
In cooperation with regional partners, the Škoda Auto Foundation supports innovation in education in the Mladá Boleslav and Hradec Králové regions, where Škoda Auto operates.
Mladá Boleslav region
An important partner in the Mladá Boleslav region is the Havlíčkova Secondary School of Industry. For example, in cooperation with CZECHITAS, we initiated and financed the costly transformation of a historic classroom into a modern IT environment. The reconstruction was designed and carried out with respect for the original form of the classroom from the pre-war period, with the aim of highlighting the valuable elements of this building, which was designed by academic architect Jiří Kroha and is a cultural monument. The classroom is also used by other entities for the education of the general public.
Vrchlabsko and Rychnovsko
On January 9, 2024, we have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Hradec Králové Region to promote innovation in education, to respond to the increasing dynamics of technological development, and also to create a stimulating environment so that students begin to show interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics outside the school environment.
The first flagship of this cooperation was the acquisition of a collaborative hi-tech robot for the pupils of the Krkonoše Grammar School in Vrchlabí. The robot was named Edgar by the pupils and generated enthusiasm for further work. The robot will not only be used by the locals, but will gradually be used by the wider school community, such as other local schools or leisure clubs.
EDU WEEK - educational event for teaching staff
In cooperation with the Škoda Auto Vocational School and Škoda Auto University (ŠAVŠ) we annually organise the EDU Week educational event. This event is intended for teachers and teachers of all types of schools, educational institutions and others interested in lifelong learning. Pre-sessional workshops are held in the regions where Škoda Auto operates. Online webinars are held across the country. Each year, the selection of educational topics reflects not only society-wide events, current trends, but especially the needs of educators themselves. The event is completely free of charge for participants and is usually held during the preparatory week at the end of the summer holidays.
