The Foundation seeks systemic change in education because it is education that is the cornerstone of both personal development and our society as a whole. It is through education that people can better understand complex social issues, formulate their opinions and participate in decision-making for the common good and the development of the regions in which they live.
Last but not least, education is not only important for individuals, it also has a significant impact on the economy and competitiveness. Investment in education strengthens our country's workforce and innovation capacity, leading to increased productivity and overall economic growth. It is therefore simple to say that every penny invested in education support programmes will pay us back many times over in the future.
Long-term research even shows that every penny invested in improving the quality of education at the lowest levels of education, i.e. pre-primary education, will pay back many times more than support invested later. This is why primary and kindergarten schools are the main focus of the Škoda Auto Foundation's support.
The Foundation also recognises that education plays a key role in combating social inequalities and thus contributes to creating a more balanced and fairer society. That is why all its programmes have an element of support for children and adolescents who are at risk of some kind of disadvantage - be it physical or socio-economic, for example - in their DNA.
The Škoda Auto Foundation carries out its activities in the field of formal and non-formal education, and the target groups of its programmes are both schools themselves at all educational levels (kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, universities), as well as the founders of schools in the individual regions in which it operates, or providers of leisure activities and school communities.
