A year ago a public collection was announced for the purchase of a piano worth CZK 1 839 000. Thanks to the contribution of the general public, it will be possible to renew the tradition of concerts that used to regularly ring the hall of the Mladá Boleslav theatre with the participation of world stars.
A series of benefit concerts and a public collection for the purchase of a new concert wing, to which the town of Mladá Boleslav and the Central Bohemia Region also contributed, was initiated by the Friends of Art Mladá Boleslav in cooperation with the SKODA AUTO Endowment Fund last November. More than sixty years old, the piano, which due to its technical condition was not suitable for concert requirements, could be replaced by a Petrof Monsoon concert grand piano, which - as its name suggests - will bring a fresh wind to the sails of Boleslav culture.
Due to the current epidemiological situation, the ceremony was held without the public. The evening, during which the piano virtuoso Miroslav Sekera, a native of Venice nad Jizerou, and dancers from the Rytmus Dance Club in Bakovka performed, could be watched online on the Facebook page Nové Boleslavsko.
The Petrof Monsoon concert grand piano is characterised by a refined sound, which is best appreciated in large music halls. The finest and most skilled craftsmen are involved in its manufacture. It has a characteristic romantic tone and its flawless dynamics provide musicians with the perfect space to express their feelings.
The Friends of the Arts Mladá Boleslav develops the legacy of the eponymous association that was active in the region more than a hundred years ago. Its main goal is to support and develop cultural life in the region. The SKODA AUTO Endowment Fund also intends to support local culture next year.
"Unfortunately, the current situation is not very favourable for culture and artists. However, the SKODA AUTO Endowment Fund supports culture in all circumstances, and that is why we want to continue to support them. I see the handover of the wing to the Mladá Boleslav theatre as a promising symbolic beginning," says Martin Hrdlička, a member of the SKODA AUTO Endowment Fund Board of Trustees. "Whether you are an author or a consumer, culture helps us to escape reality, relax and better cope with challenging situations. We want to help develop culture in our region!"
