Publication of a never-before-published novel by Miloš Gerstner, a native of Vrchlabí and an honorary citizen of the town of Vrchlabí.
The plot of the book deals with the life of people in the Krkonoše foothill settlements at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. In a readable form, it maps the beginnings of industrial production in Vrchlabí. The character of the main character, Jan Martin, is inspired by the true story of the author's ancestor, who undertook a journey in search of happiness as far away as Daruvar (today's Croatia).
